Mima

Monitoring Assistant for Bees

Mima is a concept for a measuring instrument that provides help for apiculturists with regard to controlling and maintaining bees’ health. Instead of opening the beehive for each inspection, the hive can now stay closed. Thus, the sensitive climate in the hive is maintained and the bees can live and work without being disturbed. The instrument is a tool designed to support apiculturists by providing important information regarding bees’ health. The thus retrieved data provides a detailed picture of the bees’ health, allowing a safer work environment for both the bees and the apiculturist.

JURY STATEMENT

Considering the health of bees in our environment is important, even if this matter could be addressed in a less high tech approach. A proposal incoorperating high tech applications translated into a feasible design.

WINNER STATEMENT

I feel very honoured to be one of the lucky winners of such a highly respected and important design award.
