Mira - Make room for recovery
Human Centered Concept for Intensive Care 2035
Over tdecades, intensive care has evolved into a maze of machines built for survival. While research shows that less sedation speeds up recovery, ICUs remain cluttered, cold, and intimidating places. MIRA reimagines the ICU as a place for recovery, connection, and care. A transformable hub centralises and organises machines behind the bed, reducing clutter and freeing up space for welcoming furniture that fosters family involvement and early mobilisation. By balancing privacy, medical monitoring and personalisation, MIRA transforms the ICU into a healing space that feels like home, helping patients take their first step back into their lives.
We know that patients recover more quickly and fully when they feel at ease. This design concept adds warmth and a human touch to what can be otherwise cold and clinical hospital intensive care units (ICUs). Inspired and inspiring!
WINNER STATEMENTWe are thrilled that Mira has gained this kind of recognition! It validates our research, process, and teamwork, and tells us there is room for optimistic and holistic visions of hospital care.
