Mitsui Plaza-Taipei Western Dist. Gateway Project
Walkable urban landscape
Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs
People are increasingly interested in cities that are walkable. This project was designed to revamp the West District at the Historical North Gate in Taipei City. Mitsui Plaza has long been an economic and traffic hub since the Japanese period. The historical character of this area and the natural environment are a blueprint for creating a walkable urban environment. Here pedestrians are actually walking a historical trail. The new gateway threads together the Railway Station, Taipei Travel Plaza, and Mitsui Plaza, creating an outdoor living room for Taipei.
