Kinetic mirror installation

Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH

For the disabled pavilion at the World Expo, Otto Bock Healthcare commissioned an installation which focuses visitors’ attention on the theme of movement. Based on the old principle of communication over long distances using light reflection, “Mobility” is somewhat poetic and metaphorical in its design – in contrast to the immersive LED media shows and large-scale projections so commonly found: 100 motor-operated prosthetic hands hold small mirrors which reflect the light of a floodlight. The spots of light follow a computer-generated choreography, moving on the wall opposite to repeatedly form the Chinese character for mobility.
