Modern Chulha

Affordable and efficient wood burning stove

Robert Bosch Hausgeräte GmbH

The Bosch Modern Chulha was design to provide users at the bottom of the pyramid an affordable upgrade to their 3 stone chulhas. Its innovative design makes use of the effects of "natural draft" and is able to achieve a high thermal efficiency of 23% without needing any additional fan to force the air draft. This results in a 42% reduction of toxic smoke and an increase efficiency by 57% versus the traditional 3 stone stove. The increase in efficiency means women spend less time collecting wood over long distances giving them more time for other activities.
