Modulo - A Mould Specific Early Detection Sensor System

Building and Human Health Innovation

Modulo is the first sensor that detects where mold is growing in a home before it becomes a health hazard for the occupants. Damp and mold are persistent and hazardous problems, particularly in older social housing, posing significant health risks to vulnerable communities. Current solutions to mold are costly, and usually don't stop mold from returning. Modulo records and compares mold growth signals with temperature and humidity readings to identify mold growth early, and provides customized outputs so occupants can promptly improve ventilation and prevent severe mold development.

JURY STATEMENT

By leveraging modern technology to address the issue of household mold, this solution is both practical and feasible. It makes a significant contribution to improving home environments and building quality.

WINNER STATEMENT

Receiving the prestigious iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD is a tremendous honor for our team of young designers and engineers. This recognition provides a valuable platform for further developing Modulo and continuing to deliver innovative solutions that benefit both landlords and tenants.
