Musubi Stool
Stool
Heiwa-Mokkou Limited companyThis collaboration between Mizuki Chinen, a student at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, and Heiwa-Mokkou Limited Company turns a student concept into a refined product embodying Japan’s sustainable craftsmanship. Made only of wood and Japanese paper, it uses the traditional “paper hinge” technique for strength without nails. Inspired by the celebratory “mizuhiki knot,” the design unites straight and curved lines. Using hardwood from the pristine Takatsugawa basin in Shimane and Japanese paper from a company that produces Sekishu Banshi (a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage), it promotes local revitalization and a sustainable future.
