Social Forest Conservation
Malaysia is home to many terrestrial species at our tropical rainforest ecosystem that provides, and protects many local and indigenous communities. The loss of bio-diversity is one of the greatest environmental challenges that we face today. In Malaysia, illegal logging, and poorly managed agriculture, palm oil and rubber development activities, have contributed to increase Forest Fragmentation & Species Loss. We intend to achieve (3) goals: 1) Protect the forest from further degradation 2) Restore previously degraded ecosystems through replanting trees 3) Secure as much trees as we can for the local and future generations to come
The project has clear aims, detailed plans including education, economy, ecology involving children and women taking part in. With short-term and long-term goals, we believe that the project can improve the lives of local residents, enhance the local economy while protect the local environment.
WINNER STATEMENTWe would like to thank the iF Team and Panel of Judges for this truly shocking and delightful surprise. We just managed to get to our emails today, and it also happens to be our country’s Independence Day, so it’s truly a surprise that we will remember. On behalf of our Social Impact and Social Enterprise partners; Bambusa Foundation, this is truly recognition and validation for all the hard work that they; Dr. Muhammad Hakim (CEO/Conservation Scientist) at Bambusa, and the numerous volunteers put in towards the conservation and preservation of the green lungs and green heritage that our country has left for the next generation.
