With the bi-annually appearing newspaper the “Netzwerk Neue Musik” wants to present its projects and topics. The “Networks” aim is also to encourage public dialogue regarding “New Music” and to support accessible to the broader public. The variable name 1' 33' (2' 33', 3' 33' …) refers to a main John Cage composition and in a very distinct way makes the connection to “New Music”. The appreciation and open-mindedness of “New Music” as well as its general message reveals itself in Cages legendary piece 4' 33'. Cage gives the interpreter freedom in decisions pertaining to the movements of duration as well as that of instruments.
