OneSide
Stroke rehabilitation device
One Side is a portable device designed to help rehabilitate the upper limbs in people with Acquired Brain Injury. It also turns treatment into a fun and immersive experience. The movements that patients have to carry out in their exercise routine are first translated into a mechanical language in modules that connect via Bluetooth to any smart device, allowing the patient to control a selection of video games. Although the brain is damaged, if the spirit is alive, why stick to dull therapies?
The value of this product comes from its creative design, which enables upper-body exercise for people who have suffered strokes or brain injury. It is founded on in-depth research about the properties of people with these disabilities. This accumulated ergonomic knowledge informs a design and service that fully consider the needs of people with disabilities.
WINNER STATEMENTI am a physiotherapist and industrial designer, an unusual combination of disciplines that made me focus on a very specific branch of design; the development of medical devices. Through a systematic innovation process, paying special attention to the needs of the patient and in order to fully understand the problem, I seek to generate a value impact on conventional methods and user experience.
