OPlay - A Medical Product for Children with Asthma

Medical product for children

OPlay integrates a musical instrument with a medical device to help young asthma patients manage the twin functions of asthma spacer and peak flow measuring. For children with asthma, it can be hard to remember when to take their medication. Complex treatment and symptoms, like stridors, may affect their experience and even acceptance of therapy. By transforming the complex process into several simple steps, matched with lighting guidance and music feedback, OPlay turns a tedious therapy into a joyful recital by the child, thereby improving both their physical and mental health.

JURY STATEMENT

Having had asthma as a child, I can identify with this concept. It resolves the fear children have with medical devices through a fun interaction. It is aesthetically refined and well designed, which promotes a better experience for both child and parent.

WINNER STATEMENT

Winning the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD has been one of our dreams since we started studying design. On the way to chasing this award, we kept improving and shaping a better tomorrow through design. We are thrilled at the good news and we'll keep up the enthusiasm.
