Pulse oximeters are typically task-specific, cumbersome, and have a medical aesthetic. Frequent monitoring of oxygen levels is vital and beneficial in treating and managing a range of conditions. ‘Oxypen’ is a pulse oximeter that combines the functionality of a pen to encourage carrying and frequent monitoring of oxygen saturation. The streamlined yet organic form stands in stark contrast to other similar devices. It is easily opened just by pinching the cap. The user’s finger slides in and the reading is displayed on the pen clip screen.

I like this gadget. It looks slick and posh and it still is a health device. From a communication point of view it turns a possible handicap into a business talk icebreaker.
