PAL - Hybrid Arm Prosthesis

Assistive Technology

PAL is a concept for a new, hybrid alternative to costly modern electric prostheses and outdated mechanical prostheses. It addresses the problems of low accessibility, low acceptance rate, and social stigma associated with prostheses. It combines the advantages of both modern electronic systems and traditional body-powered prostheses into a lightweight and robust solution that can be used with a range of inexpensive terminal device modules, providing users with individual benefits.

JURY STATEMENT

PAL is a hybrid prosthesis that merges body control with electronic grip locking. Thoughtful CMF and user research enhance acceptance, accessibility, and emotional connection. An example of a fully thought-out project that supports personalization and ease of use.

WINNER STATEMENT

I am really happy to have been selected as one of the winners of the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. This recognition will enable me to reach a wider audience with the project and drive its development forward.
