Circular-design STEM kit for youth and educators

Patch is a circular-design STEM kit that transforms unused smartphones into hands-on learning tools for young people and educators. With over 5 billion idle devices worldwide and 50+ million tons of e-waste produced annually, Patch extends the life of these devices through a modular, repair-first system that promotes upcycling as an educational practice. Its reconfigurable components and lessons reduce material use while fostering technical skills, curiosity, and a culture of repair.

JURY STATEMENT

The PATCH STEM kit successfully combines e-waste reduction with education about upscaling. Helping reuse 5 billion old mobile devices and turning them into new tools. Extending product lifecycles, preventing waste, and education are a triple-headed ticket to a greener future.
