Youth political inclusion multimedia project
#PeacePekee (Only Peace) was an ambitious Shujaaz multimedia project that supported youth to be peace ambassadors during Kenya's 2022 elections. Funded by UNDP, the project raised awareness on how to identify early warning signs of election violence, activating Shujaaz 'SuperFans' to amplify the impact. From April to November 2022, #PeacePekee reached 7.7m youth across Kenya, engaging even the most marginalised through 1m comics, 35 on-ground events, and 1400+ social media posts on Facebook alone. Crucially, the project promoted the political and social inclusion of a generation who are so often vilified by their leaders and mainstream media.
