Pendulum seat for commuter trains
This is a new, modular, and multifunctional seat concept for local public rail transport with the aim of providing a universal answer to increasing capacity needs. The new, so-called “pendulum seat” can be modified remotely from the train driver’s cockpit by an electrically driven mechanism inside the seat, to raise capacity during peak times and to offer more comfort during less busy times. An electronically controlled seating solution like this doesn’t yet exist. Therefore, Siemens has registered this innovative seat concept as a patent with the European Patent Office.
