PIKABAK

Play Objects for Children

Children are gifted with vivid imagination, constantly inventing stories and fantasies. Through drawings and objects they create spectacular worlds where creatures crawl or monsters roar but in real life these creations remain static. With PIKABAK, we aim to simplify complex electronics and provide a toolkit that is easily accessible to kids and allows them to enhance the scope of their creations. It contains 3 friendly silicon units with different built-in functions, which can be attached to objects to create light, sound and movement. Pikabak’s home doubles as a docking station where they rest and recharge before getting back on their feet.

JURY STATEMENT

A very likeable idea! A nice introduction to electronics that provokes playing and imagination and merges existing physical material and electronics in a good designed materialized casing.

WINNER STATEMENT

It is an honour to receive such an award! It acknowledges a fulfilling and dynamic collaboration in which we got to know each others’ strengths and weaknesses and combined our diverse skills and backgrounds to bring the three PIKABAKs to life. It also serves as a reminder for how well we work as a team, both personally and professionally.
