Pingtung Thing
Exhibition space
During the 2019 Taiwan Design Expo, the exhibition hall featuring the agriculture of Pingtung county – PINGTUNG THING – symbolized the cycle of farm work starting at sunrise and ending at sunset. The first area shows the inputs to and outputs of agriculture, symbolized by fresh fruit, soiled rubber boots and time-worn tools. Cardboard cartons and sacks were used as spatial dividers. The theme of the second area is a collection of local oral history, introducing the story through different short films. The TV wall elements imitate those often used in marketplaces; multiple screens form the doorframe of the “supermarket”.
