Composite

Thermoplastic composite for injection molding from PLA (polylactide) and Cordenka (R) rayon (man-made cellulose fiber). PLA is derived from corn, Cordenka rayon from wood pulp. The composite is to 100% derived from renewable resources. Cordenka reinforcement improves PLA properties, especially regarding impact resistance, and opens up new fields of applications, i.e. housings of electronic equipment. Compared to neat PLA resin (= 0) the composite exhibits improved performance regarding tensile strength (+), young's modulus (+), heat deflection temperature, HDT-B (+), impact strength (+++) and notched impact strength (+++).
