Book

The book showcases 24 poster types printed in original wooden type taken from the collection of the department for type casting, type set and printing methods at the Hessische Landesmuseum, Darmstadt. It shows several, some rather individual variants of slab serif, Italienne slab serifs and sans serif types, but also of Toscanienne, art nouveau and art deco types. The font sizes ranges from a delicate twelve to a monumental 94 Cicero. Because the types are pressed into rough paper, the small irregularities and instances of unevenness in the printing allow you to experience the former vitality of the printing craft by touch.
