SERV INCPLUG MAGAZINE, founded in 2004 in Okayama, Japan, is a regional design magazine linking cultures, economies, and generations to build sustainable local vitality. It has released 65 issues, each about 200 pages long, featuring around 300 people in every issue from government, business, culture, and art. The “PLUG NIGHT” event draws up to 4,000 visitors and launched a regional award promoting cross-sector collaboration. All ads are by the editorial team, raising design awareness among local firms. Beyond a magazine, PLUG is the only ongoing example of its kind in Japan and in 2024 became its first to win a Good Design Gold Award.
