Wooden Architecture

OBAYASHI CORPORATION ARCHITRCTS AND ENGINEERS

This is a training and educational center used "to nurture future knowledge" for employees of a construction company. We have designed it as Japan’ s first Fully-wooden and Fire-resitant high-rise architecture in which all the main structural components - columns, beams, floors, walls - are made of wood. It is based on the situation where the use of wood is required from the two perspectives of carbon offsetting and revitalizing the forestry industry in Japan. We pursued a new form that would serve as a prototype for wooden high-rise buildings.
