The Post-nuclear Housing project looks at how current architecture fails to meet the needs of a changing society. It emphasizes architecture's responsibility to users by proposing adaptable design strategies. This speculative project aims to create living spaces informed by feminist and posthuman ideas, encouraging reconnection with others and the environment, while prioritizing rest and enjoyment over productivity and consumption.
Most housing solutions are still designed to meet the needs of the nuclear family, even though this social model is in rapid decline in many parts of the world. This architectural concept reimagines living spaces designed to serve the needs of chosen non-nuclear 'families'.
WINNER STATEMENTI´m so grateful to receive this recognition, and I hope the idea of a postnuclear utopia helps us understand present challenges, imagine mutable and caring future cities, and respond, through design, to a present which is no longer nuclear.
