4D Embroidered Puffer

RandomPuff is a garment application that leverages 4D-embroidered puff with heat-shrink thread and digital embroidery. The puff can be fabricated flat, and pop up as pixelated insulation when in contact with heat. The puffy space traps the air between the exterior environment and the skin so as to keep the wearer warm. The 4D embroidery process also eases the double curvature fabrication that is traditionally hard to be done in one-run. Personalized styling becomes available through computational design processes, which opens up a new pipeline among end-customer, designer, and manufacturer.
