All inline fan carbon filters on the market today are one time use only, so they need to be replaced and disposed of multiple times a year once the activated carbon granular pieces reach max saturation. This creates a significant amount of waste that can be avoided by just designing a way to remove the spent activated carbon and refilling it with fresh activated carbon, which is what the refillable carbon filter is able to achieve.
