Rolling Dragon

Visual installation

Vanke Wuhan

Rolling Dragon is an installation we designed for a luxurious residential project. The design was inspired by the project’s Chinese name “Yu Xi”, the imperial jade seal with a dragon engraved upon it. For this reason, the dragon was chosen to convey its high-end yet low-key positioning. We represented the dragon with a single element: rhombic copper plates of the same color and size. By stacking and angling them, the copper plates formed a vivid detail picture of a dragon with an ink painting effect. The interplay of light and water makes the dragon appear to be rolling as you walk along the wall. A dynamic visual experience was created simply in a fixed installation.
