Ohana was the official residence of the Tachibana family, lords of the Yanagawa domain, built in 1738. From 1950, this residence operated as a ryokan with a traditional restaurant. Ryokan Ohana, which has undergone renovation, is the accommodation building ‘Shotokan’ constructed within this residence, designated a National cultural property. Guided by the concept of ‘conveying authenticity’, the spatial design aims to connect the context for the next 100 years. By incorporating local industries and traditional crafts, and collaborating with local artisans, it contributes to the regional economy and aims for sustainable community development.
