SAKE 8

Label and book

Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic has come up with a SAKE 8 label design for the 250-year-old Japanese sake producer Hachitsuru that dispenses with the use of conventional Japanese characters. This is the first time traditional sake culture has joined forces with contemporary German design culture. SAKE 8 is a German-Japanese cultural project with two exhibitions in both countries by Hanae Komachi. It includes the illustrated book SAKE 8, created with artist Dieter Froelich, which depicts the creative process behind the label and how the sake is produced, and also features dishes created by the artist that go well with sake.
