Weaving IGUSA into TATAMI has been a sustainable Japanese craftsmanship that has continued for over 1,500 years. But, it is threatened to be replaced by modern materials and imported one. In Japan the IGUSA Industry has decreased by 10% over the last 30 years. To prevent a further decline we committed to revitalize this Industry with our LOOK INTO NATURE collection. SAKYU is its iconic presence. We aim to extend the use of IGUSA beyond traditional Japanese style rooms with TATAMI and into contemporary spaces worldwide. This way we intend to connect the legacy of Japan's Igusa industry to the future.
