Picture book

To create this photo essay, photographer Herbert Böttcher spent several weeks aboard a container ship traveling from Europe to Asia as well as the US and Latin America. Böttcher used a wide-angle lens that registers details well into the edge of the image. These impressive panoramic photographs capture the interplay between the ocean, the wind and the majestic momentum of the giant cargo liners. To minimize any detraction from these unusual photographs, a plain red cardboard cover and a red endpaper were chosen. There are very few words in this volume, which relies exclusively on the impact of its double-page color photographs.
