Seitoku Kindergarten
Kindergarten
Tokyo Seitoku Gakuen
Urban schools sometimes have a closed interface because residential privacy is prioritized. This project is a reconstruction of a kindergarten in a narrow residential neighborhood in Tokyo that focuses on the spatial characteristics of the area, including yards, alleys, and small empty lots. Each childcare room is considered a house, with a small space between them, and the staggering walls control the line of sight and loosely connect one another. We aimed to create an open relationship between the educational environment and the community, in which the kindergarten activities and the residents' sense of living could be perceived.
