Sensory Pleasure
Textile design
Usui Orimono
"Sensory pleasure" is a series of textile designs made from an alternative technique for processing high-twisted yarns, known as "chirimen," which is primarily produced for kimonos. This project is a collaboration with the Usui Orimono weaving mill in Kyotango, a specialist in polyester chirimen. The designers wanted to apply digital technology to the chirimen production process to transform its surface and find a reuse for the loom waste created from chirimen production.
