Urban Redevelopment / Mixed-use Building

This redevelopment on the east side of Shibuya Station reconnects the station, the district, and surrounding areas through a network of paths. The site lies in a fragmented area, surrounded by high-rises such as Shibuya Hikarie and Shibuya Cross Tower, hemmed in by major roads, and cut off by elevation changes. A centrally positioned atrium with escalators and stairs resolves these problems, linking Shibuya and the Aoyama area. The design also links the site with the Hikarie complex and an existing pedestrian overpass, creating a network of six connected districts to form a new urban hub and open spaces for pedestrians.
