Training building

A two-storey timber training facility in Kyoto, Japan, designed for the Wacoal Women’s Track & Field Team, “Shinwakan.” Conceived as a base integrating dining, training, and recovery, the courtyard-centric layout balances privacy with openness. Women-only circulation and appropriate security are carefully planned. The structure is conventional timber construction using Kyoto-sourced standard stock. W-shaped columns and beams—derived from the corporate logo—combined with a tensioned tie create a column-free span of over 10 m, while a regional, circular supply chain linking forestry, milling, and construction translates the company’s philosophy
