After brief snowfall at the end of October, temperatures remained mild. Action was therefore needed to stimulate early winter sales in the Pitsch Sport store. Existing and selected potential customers received a letter printed on wax paper that they could crumple after reading and use to wax their skis. And if – contrary to expectations – the skis became slower after waxing, Pitsch Sport guaranteed a free ski service. The season’s opening weekend recorded a 200% increase in store traffic. What’s more, even with no snow in lower-lying areas, sales increased by 15% in three weeks.
