Sojeho Project

From desperate railroad village to new landmark

Iksundada

Today, Soje-dong is a neighborhood in Daejeon, Korea. It was originally a lake but was then filled to build a railroad village for officials and workers during the Japanese colonial era and was in danger of disappearing due to indifference and redevelopment issues. The Sojeho project aims to foster a sustainable society where everyone can coexist under the slogan "Return, Fill Soje-dong" to fill the space and experience of Soje-dong with stories of its history, culture, and people. Sojeho is a new landmark in Daejeon and a base town for residents and tourists to visit the area. It is an urban revitalization project that has the potential to attract members of the cultural community concentrated in Seoul in an effort to draw people to smaller cities around the country.
