MUJI (Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd.)This speaker did not start as part of the electronics project; it came to fruition out of the storage development project. According to a survey, many people own more than 100 CDs, and we learned that they store these CDs in a variety of ways. Many use storage boxes, but there is a limit to how many CDs can be stored in these boxes – one too many and all CDs can't be stored together; those that don't fit into the storage box end up scattered on a table or on top of the stereo system. Our idea was to fashion a storage system that was not box-shaped, but rather a speaker system the same size as a CD case that acted as a set of bookends. With this design, any number of CDs can be stored together.
