Headphones for people with autism

Constant anxiety can be extremely distressing for people on the autism spectrum. Due to oversensitive hearing, it is often hard for them to focus on one specific sound among many. This leads to overwhelming conditions such as anxiety and panic attacks. Unlike normal noise-canceling headphones, Spectrum features an optical heart rate monitor that can detect anxiety attacks and offer relief to the user. It also has cardioid microphones that automatically detect and enable only the closest audio and neutralize ambient noise.

JURY STATEMENT

This product is designed to bring relief and comfort to people with autism by preventing sensory overstimulation. It will also appeal to anyone in search of tranquility amidst a noisy environment.

WINNER STATEMENT

Thank you iF for giving me the opportunity to showcase my work. Identifying a problem area and coming up with a solution is hard but creating awareness about it is harder. This recognition motivates me to continue solving design problems and building an inclusive future for all.
