This season’s brochure for the Bielefelder Philharmoniker features a dying medium - the Polaroid camera. Instead of the usual photos taken OF musicians, we’re showing photos taken BY musicians. As a kind of “Polaroidonauts” some of the members of the orchestra were given a Polaroid camera, one film and one day to take pictures for us. The outcome - kitsch or cool, blurred, sharp, just plain bad or pure genius - was used for the brochure. The cover itself is part of a contest inviting readers to use the black reverse side of the enlarged Polaroid for their own artwork ... granting them the opportunity to win an evening with Peter Kuhn, the director of the Philharmonic Orchestra.
