This backpack from Japanese manufacturer Elecom solves this problem by allowing you to combine both bags in one. It includes separate compartments for work and gym gear so your belongings don't get mixed up. It also includes a dedicated clothing/shoe case that fits right inside the backpack. Interior features include an easy-wipe fabric to remove sweat and dirt. The clothing/shoe case may be removed from the side even while the backpack is inside a locker for easy access.
