Staatsgalerie Stuttgart

Image and exhibition poster

The idea: Staatsgalerie Stuttgart becomes an open frame for art, representing both focus and diversity. The frame can have countless different colors and content, vividly illustrating art’s fascinating variety. In its most compact form, it creates the letter "S" for "Staatsgalerie." The open frame visually links exhibitions on very different artistic themes, such as "Glimpses. Views. Impressions.", focusing on the French Impressionists, Giorgio de Chirico’s "Magic of Modernism," and Francis Bacon’s "Invisible Rooms."

iF Gold Statement

The poster and the complex corporate identity of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart use a 'picture frame' concept to provide art with what it needs most: a flexible frame to both contain the art and elevate it to the state of viewed object. Immediately comprehensible, this sign perfectly reflects the public image of the Staatsgalerie.
