In Colombia, informal land tenure is at the root of the armed conflict that has displaced over 6 million people since 1985, breeding violence and corruption. Over 52% of rural land plots were informal in 2020. Suyo provides tech-based land formalization services for low-income families, democratizing land tenure and promoting resilient communities. Since 2015 we’ve serviced over 2,800 families, with 36,300 overall beneficiaries. 60% of our beneficiaries are women and property values increase an average of 57% after formalization. Currently involved in mass land titling programs, we will reach 600,000 overall beneficiaries in the next 2 years.
With great entrepreneurial spirit Suyo creates social and economic opportunities for thousands of low-income families in Colombia by providing affordable and reliable property registration services in order to fight one reason for violence and corruption in Columbia. Now they can profit from subsidies, access to public services and more. An impressing project on an important level for more democracy, and the empowerment of women in special.
