Adaptive Reuse

This project is a case of cultural heritage preservation, aiming to conserve and reactivate a historically significant site. Built in the 1950s, the former grain warehouse once served Taiwan’s post-war food system but stood idle for decades in central Taipei. Seeing its historical and urban value, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature and the design team sought to transform the utilitarian space into a cultural venue—no longer storing grain, but housing words, ideas, and Taiwanese stories. The design highlights respect for memory, a dialogue between old and new, and architecture as a storytelling medium.
