TANI: Sustainability and Comfort in One Chair
Sustainable Furniture
When it comes to seating furniture, sustainability and comfort often seem to be at odds with each other. Many products achieve comfort at the expense of non-recyclable materials and energy-intensive manufacturing processes. By harnessing the natural elasticity of wood, TANI was created — a flexible and comfortable solid wood chair. Thanks to its two wooden springs, the seat can flex within a certain range, offering a sitting experience similar to that of a cantilever chair made from steel and plastic. To minimize waste, TANI also features a simple assembly mechanism that eliminates the need for tools or glue in the packaging.
This solution stands out by making the product more nature-friendly through the use of sustainable materials and improved ergonomics. This adapts, the classic design of a cantilever chair to the era of sustainability. This has the potential to become a modern classic.
WINNER STATEMENTWinning the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD is a great honor and a source of encouragement. It recognizes sustainable design and material innovation, which reinforces my conviction in designing with care for both people and the planet.
