Nursery school

Aisaka Architects' Atelier

This nursery school, named “TESORO” (Italian for treasure box), is in Fukushima, Japan. The site was small, so the road, privately owned by the client, was incorporated to make room for a safe, low building and a large open courtyard while maintaining access for vehicles. The building opens to the east to views of the symbolic mountain. Interconnected circulation routes, including slides and climbing walls, merge the inside and the outside, making the building itself a giant play structure for children to enjoy. And undulating gray walls with many holes wrap around the building for added security and privacy.
