The 3rd Annual Taiwan Film Festival in Toronto

Cultural Film Festival

The festival's goal was to highlight Taiwanese culture to Torontonians. The main design theme recalls traditional Taiwanese wedding banquets by mixing two wedding staples - bright illumination and the two sacred animals from Asian mythology. The neon signs of the "dragon and phoenix" symbolizes happiness and blessings of togetherness. The hope that "sons become dragons and the daughters become phoenixes" conveys "peace and joy" to overseas Asians, with tradition having them pray for success. Tapping into this notion brings a taste of old-day Taiwan to viewers. Drawing parallels to happier times transports viewers away from pandemic-weariness.
