Memorial

Yokosuka City Central Park was used for turrets during World War II. The Axis of Peace, a turret of light, is a memorial that beams light into the sky with the wish for peace. The beam of light, which is over 1,000 meters high, can be seen from near and far, a constant reminder of the value of peace. The circle has long symbolized infinity and eternity. The ceiling and the central column were laser-engraved with many circles drawn by citizens wishing for lasting peace. During the day, we can feel peace in the light that shines through the circles. In the evening, the laser engraved circles of light and words of peace from around the world emerge in harmony with the night sky.
