The Covid-19 pandemic has caused public facilities to be closed and outdoor activities to be restricted. In the 2021 Seoul Survey, 68.3% of Seoul citizens complained of experiencing depression. In addition, the target area is unsuitable for conditions in Korea, where the UV index is high all year round, as the installation of shade canopies in the area is prohibited. Therefore, the idea was to install shade canopies with fun designs along the Han River so that citizens could safely engage in outdoor activities. The fabric of The Cloud is made from upcycled yacht sails found discarded in the Han River, contributing to a balanced and sustainable Han River ecosystem.
