Renovating an old house.

The renovation of this 43-year-old house began with a yearning for the natural environment and the aesthetics of wabi-sabi. By reducing the size of the living room, the outdoor courtyard area was expanded by 50%, opening up the enclosed space to welcome expansive greenery and natural light. Through integrated storage design and Taiwanese earthenware paint, a natural cave-like feel was created. The design not only responds to the architectural language of traditional Taiwanese earthen houses but also showcases the fusion of the wabi-sabi spirit and Taiwanese culture.
