The Flowing Paperscapes for the War Memorial
Memorial park landscape
Cultural Affairs Bureau Yilan County
The memorial park commemorates the victims of the air raid on a paper mill during World War II. A geometric array symbolizes the wounds inflicted on humanity, gradually healing through the soothing waves of the flowing paper landscape, moving forward to a new world but never forgotten. The design is based on the idea of paper, preserving the memory of the paper mill; delicate yet flexible, rigid yet smooth, paper is transformed into waves that flow continuously, providing a safe playground for children. The Flowing Paperscapes honor the past but also bring hope for the future. The design team believes that a memorial park does not always have to be sad but can also be enjoyable for people of all ages.
